1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using Trusted Codes ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, you may not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Trusted Codes is an identity verification service that uses cryptographic codes to help users verify the identity of people they communicate with. The Service generates rotating three-word codes that can be used to confirm someone's identity across any communication channel.

3. User Accounts

To use certain features of the Service, you must create an account. You agree to:

• Provide accurate and complete information
• Maintain the security of your account credentials
• Accept responsibility for all activities under your account
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any illegal purpose
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its systems
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service
• Impersonate any person or entity
• Use the Service to facilitate fraud or deception
• Share your verification codes with unauthorized parties
• Add contacts to your vault under false pretenses
• Reverse engineer or attempt to extract source code from the Service

5. Important Limitations

You understand and acknowledge that:

• The Service verifies that someone is the same person you previously added to your contacts. It cannot verify whether the person you originally added was telling the truth about their identity.
• You should only add people you have verified through other means (in-person meeting, video call, etc.) to your trusted contacts.
• The Service is one layer of security and should be used alongside good judgment and other security practices.
• The Service cannot protect you if you choose to skip verification or ignore failed verification results.

6. Free and Paid Services

Free Tier: Personal use is free. We reserve the right to modify the features available in the free tier.

Enterprise Plans: Business and enterprise features are available for a fee. Pricing, payment terms, and specific features will be detailed in a separate agreement.

7. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its original content (such as user interface design, documentation, and branding), is owned by Trusted Codes and is protected by applicable copyright and trademark laws. The underlying cryptographic algorithms used by the Service are based on publicly available standards.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free. We do not guarantee that the Service will meet your specific requirements or that it will prevent all fraud or impersonation attempts.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, TRUSTED CODES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, RESULTING FROM:

• Your use or inability to use the Service
• Any unauthorized access to your account or data
• Any fraud or impersonation that occurs despite using the Service
• Any third-party conduct or content

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Trusted Codes and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.

11. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account and access to the Service at our sole discretion, without notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms or is harmful to other users, us, or third parties.

You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us. Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease.

12. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will provide notice of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notifying you via email or through the Service.

13. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Germany, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
